Description
Diacyl trehaloses (DAT) are found in the cell envelope of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. They are a family of three glycolipids with a trehalose core and acyl groups at the 2 and 3 positions. The main difference between the different DAT analogues is the fatty acid at the 3 position. DAT3 features the unsaturated mycolipenic acid on the 3 position and palmitic acid on the 2 position. Additionally, DAT3-azide is functionalized with an azide at the terminal position of the palmitoyl ester. The azide allows for a wide range of functionalizations using click chemistry, enabling many different applications, such as surface functionalization.
